Frequently Asked Questions
The Motley Fool's services provide a wide array of financial research and vetted stocks for every investment style. Our products and services, whether free or fee-based, from our podcasts to our premium subscriptions, are designed to help the world take control of their financial lives with confidence.
After decades spent studying and investing in the stock market, our greatest piece of advice is short and sweet: the longer the outlook, the better the returns. The Motley Fool wants to alleviate as much investment anxiety as possible by maintaining a long term buy and hold outlook of 5 years - minimum. When we recommend stocks, it is with this timeline in mind.

The Motley Fool offers both free and premium content. Our free content can be found on fool.com. You will not need to create an account to view our free content. Our free content includes but is not limited to: articles on fool.com, our YouTube channel, and our podcasts.
Our free content does not include official recommendations, while our premium services do. While the analysts who contribute to our free content may speak highly or negatively of a stock, this does not indicate an official position by The Motley Fool. Our free content is written by Motley Fool analysts, as well as analysts who contract with The Motley Fool.
Our premium content is restricted to members who have purchased a Motley Fool subscription. You will need an active subscription to any of our premium services to access this content. To view our premium service offerings, please go to fool.com/services.
Each of our premium services are comprised of a different set of analysts who may have differing opinions on one particular stock recommendation. The Motley Fool’s premium subscription services may have differing investment strategies that influence what stocks the analysts recommend. While we provide analysis of these stocks, it is up to our members to decide what to invest in.
Our analysts who contribute to our free content on fool.com are allowed to disagree with the official recommendations provided in our premium services.

The Motley Fool’s purpose is to make the world smarter, happier, and richer. We’re passionate about that, and so we work very hard to encourage as many people as possible to explore our premium services. That includes using marketing tactics that have proven successful over decades of testing.
But we have a culture of “top it” at The Fool, and we are always looking to improve. We’re constantly testing new methods to ensure our marketing is aligned with who we are as a company, but without dramatically slowing the rate at which people join.
To stop receiving marketing emails going forward you can either click on unsubscribe at the bottom of the email or visit Email Settings.

The Motley Fool offers three categories of premium subscription services:
- Stock Picking Services (i.e. Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers)
- Specialty Services (i.e. Options and Rule Your Retirement)
- Real Money Portfolio Services (i.e. Fool One and Everlasting Portfolio)
The Motley Fool’s portfolio services are designed around the idea of our members investing together. These services include official recommendations, and oftentimes allocation guidance, to create a well-diversified section of your portfolio. Being that our portfolio services tend to recommend many stocks at one time, The Motley Fool establishes predetermined dates for new members to join the service. Outside of that period, we close the service to new members.
The Motley Fool believes that the on-boarding experience for any particular portfolio service is best delivered to a group of members at once. These new members receive new, timely information and direction. These directions can change and information can be out of date or inapplicable to those joining days, weeks, or months outside of the open window.
While our services are designed to be mobile-friendly, we have a mobile app that allows you to track your service picks, follow stocks, and get notified of our latest updates. You can find more information here. Make sure you're downloading the official Motley Fool app and beware of imitators.
Our premium services include research reports that provide deeper dives into exciting investment opportunities. These reports are created to give members a better perspective on an industry or particular set of companies.
If you have not yet signed up for one of our premium services, you will need to register in order to get access to the reports.
Our premium services are available at fool.com/services
If you have registered for one (or more) of our premium services, you will have access to the included features within your subscription, including the affiliated reports. To get there, you will need to log into your account on fool.com.
Click here to check out all of the reports you have access to.
Different Services (and sometimes specific promotional offers) have different refund policies (including some that offer no refunds). Please review the specific terms of your offer before signing up as you are agreeing to be bound by those terms.
Some of our premium services allow for a 30-day membership fee refund. By requesting cancellation within the first 30 days of purchase, you may be eligible for a refund.
From time to time, The Motley Fool offers its premium subscription services through third-party vendors. In such cases, the vendor’s refund policy would apply and may differ from your Service (or specific offer).
For more information regarding the refund policy for your specific service, click here or email us at billingquestions@fool.com
